August is here and it’s time to get back into a routine. To ensure that you are able to conquer the days ahead with good energy and focus follow these easy healthy tips for back to school.

1. STAY HYDRATED- Our bodies are mostly composed of water and for that reason your water intake should be a priority. Rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces. For example, a 200lb person should drink 100 ounces of water. Drinking adequate amounts water can boost skin health, promote weight loss and  encourage proper detoxification. You’re body will thank you.
2. ENOUGH SLEEP- Calling it an early night has many health benefits. Getting in the routine of sleeping 6-9 hours at night can reduce stress, make you more alert, and help you lose weight. Don’t underestimate the power of sleep. Go ahead, snooze!
3. MEAL PREP- Busy schedules can lead to unhealthy food choices. Meal prepping can save you time, stress and calories. Starting the week with good intentions will make you mindful of fueling your body with the best nutrients. Nutrient dense foods can prevent illness, increase energy and improve mood. Give your body what it needs.
4. BREATHE – In between all the chaos, it is essential to find 10-15 minutes to take deep breathes to promote relaxation. Deep breathing exercises can lower stress, reduce inflammation and increase energy. Now do it with me– Breathe. Exhale. Repeat.
